POLICE locked down Gateside Road in Wishaw last night after gunshots were heard.
Specialist officers arrived on the scene at around 8.30pm, but there were no reports of any injuries.
A witness appeal has now been launched and members of the public are urged to come forward with any information they may have.
A spokeswoman from Police Scotland said: "Around 8.30pm on Wednesday, July 14, police received a report of a disturbance and gun shots being fired on Gateside Road, Craigneuk, Wishaw.
“Specialist officers attended and there was no trace of anyone injured.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 3502 of Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
