A memorial event for people who have died in a drug related death will take place in Glasgow this month.

Families and campaigners will gather to remember all the men and women who have lost their lives to drugs.

Th event, organised by Faces and Voices of Recovery (favor) takes place on July 30 at 1pm at the Royal Concert Hall Steps on Buchanan street.

The memorial is scheduled on the same day as the drug death statistics for Scotland in 2020 are due to be released.

They are expected to show another rise in the number who have died.

Last year the statistics for 2019 were released and they showed yet another record number of 1264 people in Scotland died of a drug related death, up from the previous record high the year before, of 1187.

In Glasgow in 2019 there were 279 deaths almost the same as the record high of 280 in 2018.
