SINGER-SONGWRITER James Blunt is set to return to Glasgow next year after announcing his greatest hits tour and album.

The chart-topping artist will perform his best tracks at the SEC Armadillo on Sunday, February 13.

His newly announced greatest hits album, titled The Stars Beneath My Feet (2004-2021), will be released on November 19.

The compilation record will boast 30 tracks and feature live performances - including his set from the 2008 Glastonbury festival.

In support of the 'best of' album, the star will set off on an arena tour with dates across the UK including London, Manchester and Birmingham before the final show in Glasgow.

Blunt is best known for his number one hit single, You're Beautiful, which sold over 3.6 million copies worldwide and topped the UK singles chart for five weeks in 2005.

The 47-year-old singer said: “Amazingly, I’m releasing my Greatest Hits.

"I wanted to call it 'Greatest Hit (& Songs I Wish You’d Heard)', but the good people at Atlantic Records suggested I call it something more sensible.

"If you’d ever wished that James Blunt had only ever released one album – this is that album.

"To celebrate its release, I’ll be heading out to tour the world all next year. I can’t wait to see you then.”

The singer's classic 2004 debut album Back To Bedlam was recently named as the best selling album of that decade.

Despite his global success, the former army officer is often criticised on social media for his music style, with some critics - including former Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher - branding him "boring".

However, in recent years, Blunt has become notorious for making witty comebacks and self-depricating jokes to his two million Twitter followers.

As well as his greatest hits arena tour set for next year, James and his band will hit the road this summer for a string of rescheduled tour dates across the UK.
