Drag Race UK winner Lawrence Chaney has received a letter of congratulations from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who has said the queen should be proud for representing Scotland in the BBC3 TV show.
The Glasgow queen, alongside their Scottish co-star Ellie Diamond, received the letter after they both picked up an award at the Young Scot Awards 2021.
The drag queens picked up the gong in the entertainment category.
Lawrence shared a screenshot of the letter on Twitter, which reads: "It is with great pleasure that I write to congratulate you both on winning the Young Scot Entertainment Award 2021.
"Being the first Scottish competitors chosen to appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is an outstanding achievement and you should feel extremely proud.
"By speaking so openly on the show about your experiences of growing up gay, I am sure you will have inspired so many young people to be true to themselves.
"Congratulations once again. I am delighted that your efforts have been recognised by the Young Scot Awards, and good luck with your future endeavours."
