A MAN is in hospital after being mown down and a garage on a busy main road evacuated following a large-scale rammy. 

Police swarmed the scene near an MOT garage in Dumbarton Road, at its junction with Duntocher Road in Dalmuir, this afternoon.

A 36-year-old man is seriously injured after he was hit by a car. He is currently being treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. 

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A car wash was also seriously damaged after it was hit by a car. Police at the scene declared it unsafe and had the building evacuated. 

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 12.45pm on Thursday, July 22, police were called to a report of a disturbance at a car wash premises on Dumbarton Road, Clydebank.

“Emergency services attended and found a 36-year-old man seriously injured, after being struck by a car. He has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“The car collided with the car wash, as a result the building is currently unsafe, and has been evacuated.

“A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing.”
