A SCHOOLGIRL is in hospital after being hit by a car earlier today.
The 11-year-old was taken into the care of medics after the smash in Glenburn Road, Paisley.
Police have had the street closed since around 2.40pm.
She is being treated in the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, where medics described her injuries as serious but not life-threatening.
A spokeswoman for police said: "We received a report of a crash between a car and child in Glenburn Road at around 2.40pm today.
"The child was taken to hospital and the road remains closed as officers carry out enquiries."
