City centre favourites Il Pavone have us feeling all retro this week as they prepare to bring back some classic dishes from their first ever menu in celebration of their 30th anniversary.

Nostalgic foodies can experience a taste of 1991 with specials such as ‘a show-stopping Gamberi Tropicali - served in a carved out pineapple filled with wild-caught Icelandic prawns in a classic Marie Rose sauce and pineapple chunks Or Cornetto di Salmone - Scottish smoked salmon wraps with prawns in a lemon and chive mayonnaise.’

As well giving us the chance for a culinary trip down memory lane, the restaurant are hosting a month of giveaways to mark the special occasion over on their Instagram account @ilpavoneglasgow.

Mariangela, who set up Il Pavone thirty years ago with husband Guerino Marini and brother Marco Di Meo, said: “I still remember the day we opened Il Pavone and I can't quite believe it's been 30 years since we first opened the doors back in July of 1991.

“To us, Il Pavone has meant more to us than just a place to work, it's been our livelihood over two generations and we are truly honoured to have been serving the people of Glasgow the finest Italian food for the past thirty years.

"Grazie di cuore!”

Il Pavone was one of the first restaurants to open in Princes Square and is just as popular today as it was then thanks to their comforting Italian menu and family atmosphere.
