A MAN has denied causing a religiously aggravated offence in two prisons.
Scott Simpson, 48, allegedly behaved in a threatening or abusive manner at HMP Addiewell and Barlinnie between January and February this year.
Prosecutors claim Simpson likely caused a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.

The charge states he kicked a cell door and repeatedly shouted and swore.
Simpson is then accused of making derogatory and offensive remarks.
It is claimed Simpson also threatened prisoner and police officers with violence and made remarks of a sectarian nature.

The charge lastly states Simpson sent threatening letters and gesticulated aggressively.
The charge stated the offence was “aggravated by religious prejudice.”
Simpson pleaded not guilty to the single charge yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
A trial was fixed for January next year by Sheriff Paul Crozier.
