A FORMER professional skater has been convicted of shouting at his doctor lover.

Keir Lindsay, 37, made the woman “uncomfortable” following a row at their home in Glasgow’s Strathbungo on March 18, 2020.

The pair had a row at the height of the coronavirus pandemic which turned nasty after Lindsay smashed a mirror.

Officers who arrested him were later coughed on by Lindsay who told then they were “going to die.”

Lindsay, who launched his own clothing firm around 15 years ago, was convicted of behaving in an abusive manner towards the woman.

Lindsay, who is now unemployed, was also convicted at Glasgow Sheriff Court of a similar charge towards police and assaulting them.

The court heard in evidence from the woman who stated the pair had a row around 2am and were “in distress.”

Prosecutor Jacob Tomnay said: “Was Mr Lindsay doing anything? Was he shouting at you?”

She replied: “He damaged a couple of items of his property in the flat.

“I think a mirror had been smashed I can’t recall the exact items.”

Mr Tomnay asked: “How did you feel when he was shouting and damaging property?”

She said: “I was in an uncomfortable situation.”

Mr Tomnay asked why the woman was upset and she replied: “There had been an argument between me and my partner which had escalated.”

The woman stated she phoned the police who took the pair of them out the flat separately.

DC Martin McAleer stated he arrived at the scene and heard a raised male voice from outside the flat.

The officer claimed there were upturned furniture, debris, glass on the floor and a hole in the door upon arrival.

DC McAleer claimed a hammer was beside a bed where Lindsay was lying which also contained smashed glass.

He added: “Given what were told and the scene at the time we put him under arrest.

“I asked if he understood and he said it was his house and could smash anything he wanted.

“I went to put handcuffs on him and he flailed his arms and said you can’t touch me, he was shouting and swearing behind aggressive.

“In the cell can he was aggressive and began to growl and said ‘I’m not a f***ing animal’.”

DC McAleer stated on the journey to the police station Lindsay told them he “lost the rag” but later claimed that he was “going to do” the officers.

DC McAleer stated Lindsay began speaking in general terms about coronavirus.

Mr Tomnay asked if Lindsay did anything else and he replied: “He stood at his full height and wasn’t taking instruction to sit down.

“He began coughing several times in mine and my colleague’s faces, shouting things along the lines of ‘you are going to die’.”

Lindsay told jurors in evidence that he denied coughing on the police but was unable to cover his mouth as his hands were handcuffed to the rear.

He stated he was “anxious” at the time of the incident due to the Covid pandemic and “unhappy” about being arrested.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Lindsay Wood who bailed Lindsay meantime.
