AN MP is dusting off his running shoes as he gets set to take on the London marathon for the third time.

David Linden who represents Glasgow East will be raising cash for the Glasgow North East Foodbank and is urging constituents to give generously.

The politician will be taking to the streets in October and as well as breaking a personal record, he's hoping to raise record amounts for a good cause, having previously donated cash to East End Community Carers and Glasgow Girls FC.

Glasgow Times:

Charities have lost out on thousands of pounds due to the run being postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Linden said: "“I’m looking forward to lacing up my running shoes later this year and going for the London Marathon hat trick.

“I know it’ll be tough but I’m up for the challenge of running 26 miles, especially when it’s to raise funds for a local organisation that goes the extra mile each and every day of the year.

Glasgow Times:

“The pandemic has unfortunately meant that the services of Glasgow North East Foodbank are more vital than ever before, with many more people relying on them.

“I know that money is tight for some people at the minute, but if you can afford to donate anything at all to this very worthy cause then please dig deep.”
