We took to Facebook this week to ask for your help once again in crowning some of the best food spots in the city.

This time it's all about pizza.

We've taken your suggestions alongside TripAdvisor reviews and a vote amongst The Glasgow Times team to create this list of the top ten places for pizza in the city.

Just don’t get us started on the pineapple debate again.

Paesano

Although our list isn’t in any kind of order, we’ll get the most obvious contender out of the way first, shall we?

Paesano opened its first location on Miller street in 2015 and has been queued out the door since, even going on to be named as one of the best pizzerias in Europe by travel tour guide Big 7.

The restaurant said: “We are obsessed with the traditional Neapolitan ways of making pizza.

“That's why we source everything from Italy; from the finest ingredients to our wood-fired pizza ovens that are designed and built in Naples, to the Pizzaioli in our kitchens who make the pizza.”

Project Pizza

Suggested by one of our Facebook fans, Project Pizza on Renfield street is a haven for anyone with dietary requirements.

They offer separate vegan and gluten free menus which are just as tempting as the classic versions.

One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “Got a just eat delivery, super brill pizzas, incredible vegan and meat options, super-fast and would recommend.”

Pizza Punks

Pizza Punks on St Vincent street are all about breaking the rules.

They say you should take charge of how you like your pizza and offer the chance to order as many toppings as possible for no extra cost.

One Facebook fan said simply: “That candied bacon.”

Basta Pizza Bar

This family run restaurant on Dumbarton road uses local ingredients to make some seriously inventive specials like the ‘Fish and Chips Pizza’ made with ricotta cream, grated potato, pickled shallots, smoked haddock, petits pois purée, lemon and deep fried capers.

For the less adventurous, they have a set menu with all the classics like a simple Tomato and Mozzarella too.

Romans Pizzeria

Although Romans Pizzeria in Merchant City shut their doors last year, they’ve been given a second lease of life with a residency at popular Howard street bar Hootenanny’s.

One TripAdvisor reviewer said: “Our favourite place for pizza in Glasgow. The pizzas are always brilliant, the salad fresh and their seasoned fries are the best chips I’ve ever had.”

Strip Joint

Strip Joint in Finnieston have built their bar and restaurant on three simple ideals: Tank Beer, Pizza and Vinyl Records.

To be fair, that’s more than enough to convince us to give them a visit.

They said: “Our pizza dough is made fresh in-house every day and rolled to order. We use the finest Italian plum tomatoes, fresh garlic and basil for our pizza sauce and 100% mozzarella.”

Baked Pizza Al Taglio

Found on Duke street in Dennistoun, Baked Pizza Al Taglio have gained quite a reputation thanks to their unique individual slices which mean you can mix and match as you fancy.

Trust us, you’ll want to try them all.

The restaurant said: “Our specialty is large rectangular Roman-style pizza sold by the slice, known in Italy as Pizza Al Taglio.

“Whether it is the freshest seasonal UK produce or cured meats imported straight from Italy, you can rest assured that we only use the best ingredients possible on our pizzas.”

Mozza

Mozza have venues all over Glasgow and it’s not hard to see why.

Their much loved chewy crust is achieved with a traditional wood fired oven almost faster than you can say ‘extra cheese please’

The restaurant said: “At Mozza we only make the finest Neapolitan pizza.

Wood fired by skilled Pizzaiolo, every pizza is cooked to perfection in just 60 passionate seconds.”

Errol’s Hot Pizza

You’ll have to move quickly to grab a dinner made by Errol’s Hot Pizza on Victoria road.

Their super small scale restaurant means that opening hours and collection times are very much subject to change, but that hasn’t stopped them from building a real cult following with their pizza.

One TripAdvisor review said:  “Best pizza in Glasgow, nay, Scotland.

“Have been here countless times and it’s always been incredibly tasty. Continually changing small menu with seasonal sides means everything is interesting and well cooked.”

Baffo

Another suggestion from our Facebook fans is Baffo on Argyle street.

Alongside their ever changing specials this West End Italian serve up a half-metre pizza which they say is designed for sharing between two.

We do like a challenge though.
