A PERSON has died after being hit by a train on the line between Glasgow's Shettleston and Airdrie.
ScotRail bosses reported the sad news via social media at 6.48am this morning.
Paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
In a post on Twitter, ScotRail said: "Sadly, we’ve had reports of a person being struck by a train between Airdrie and Shettleston.

"We’re working closely with the emergency services. Services from Airdrie - Balloch and Edinburgh - Helensburgh will be delayed/revised/cancelled."
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to line near Airdrie at 6.44am this morning, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are currently working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
