We were lucky enough to receive an invite to take a look at the Southside's coolest new underground bar, Mr Lincoln, last week and it's safe to say it won't be long until we're back.

The speakeasy-style 'secret' bar feels a world away from its upstairs sister venue The Luchador which specialises in Latin American inspired food and drinks.

It really is like having two completely different nights out in one.

We started off the night The Luchador which is full of light and funky décor making for a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

It's the kind of bar where you would feel just as comfortable heading for a casual post-work cocktail as you would for a special weekend celebration.

We tried various different tacos from their menu like refried beans or BBQ corn, manchego and salsa verde all bursting with flavour paired perfectly with a refreshing cocktail.

On that note, The Luchador might just have some of the best Margaritas in Glasgow thanks to their extensive and top-quality selection of tequilas and mezcals.

A neon rose on the wall is the only indication that there might be more than meets the eye below street level at this Pollokshaws road venue.

Head down the staircase full of more vintage framed paintings and a sultry red colour scheme and it’s like being transported to a whole different world.

A word of warning, it is dark. Your eyes might struggle to adjust at first, but this only adds to the nightclub-like feel of Mr Lincoln.

There’s plush red velvet booths, hidden cubbies and a chic, impressively stocked bar lighting up the room.

Mr Lincoln serves a completely different cocktail menu downstairs with more sophisticated and complex recipes to match its late-night vibe.

Even with a small number of people in attendance, the place felt full of exciting energy as music filled the room and drinks were poured.

Although the bar has been open for a few months now building up a reputation by word of mouth alone, it's definitely the kind of place that will truly come into its own with the easing of hospitality restrictions.

If you’re looking for a night out that feels like you’ve left the quiet neighbourhood of Strathbungo behind at the door, then be sure to follow the rose and find Mr Lincoln.
