SCOTLAND has recorded over 7,100 new cases of Covid-19 and no reported deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures.

The Scottish Government confirmed that 7,113 people have reported positive test results for Covid-19.

This is an increase from yesterday's figure of 5,858 new cases.

A further 55,543 new tests for Covid-19 were conducted that reported results. Of these, 13.5% were positive, a decrease from yesterday's positivity rate of 14.2%.

In the last 24 hours, no deaths of someone who tested positive for Covid-19 within the previous 28 days were registered, though the Scottish Government noted that Register Offices are now generally closed at the weekend.

There were 507 people in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, with 52 patients in intensive care.

Scottish vaccination figures now stand at 4,101,311 people having received their first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,655,287 people having received their second dose.

Due to the high volume of tests currently being received the Scottish Government notes that today's figure of newly reported cases includes a larger than usual proportion of tests that were processed more than 48 hours ago.
