Whether you're interested in comedy, music or Scottish minerals, we've rounded up five of the best things to do in Glasgow for the first weekend in September. 

 

Comedy Night at Arta

Mediterranean-inspired Merchant City venue Arta is hosting the first in a series of comedy nights this Saturday. 

Tickets cost £25 and include a glass of cava on arrival, a two-course meal, entertainment from four comedians and club entry after the show. 

Additional shows will take place on October 2nd and November 5th.

Nathan Ball 

Singer-songwriter Nathan Ball will perform at Attic Bar, The Garage, this Saturday night as part of his UK tour. 

The London-based singer finds inspiration in the outdoors and his music crosses the boundaries of indie, folk and electronic.

Scottish Mineral, Fossil and Jewellery Show 

After the success of last year's event, Caledonian Rock Shop Showroom will host the second Scottish Mineral, Fossil and Jewellery Show this Saturday and Sunday. 

Minerals, crystals, cut gems and jewellery will be available for sale and there will also be a Rock Raffle Lottery. 

Visitors will also be able to admire Dr David Anderson's exhibition of "Scottish Agates".

Take 2: Family-Friendly Films at Glasgow Film Theatre 

Appealing to the youngest of film fans, Glasgow Film Theatre will screen Raya and the Last Dragon as part of the Take 2: Family-Friendly Films season this Saturday.

At the family-friendly screenings, GFT provides free drinking water, seating for feeding babies, and a baby changing facility. 

Every child attending a Take 2 screening receives a free ticket for themselves and one adult. 

Free tickets are only issued on the day of the screening. Tickets for additional adults or those purchased in advance cost £6 each.

Twisted Circus 3

Back by popular demand, O2 Academy will host the 'Twisted Circus' this Sunday. 

The show brings together the best of the best in the drag world with support from London's best circus performers. 

The event is hosted by DJ AndyRew and Lil Joey, plus Yvie Oddly, Tayce, Jimbo the Drag Clown, Scarlet Bobo, Madame Madness, Crystal Methyd, Crystal and Denali Foxx. 

Showtime is 8.30pm with doors opening at 7.30pm.
