A restaurant in Glasgow has temporarily closed its doors to customers due to reported staff shortages.

Chaophraya, located on Nelson Mandela Place, confirmed the news on Facebook yesterday.

A statement on behalf of the city centre venue said management was "left with no other option" but to temporarily close to diners until noon on Thursday, September 9.

Bosses said this was a "very difficult" decision and thanked customers for their understanding.

A statement published to Facebook yesterday reads: "Unfortunately, due to staff shortages we have been left with no other option but to close our doors for dining in until noon on Thursday 9th September.

"Please be assured we explored all avenues before making this very difficult decision and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

"As a small gesture we have decided to offer 20% off our Chaophraya at Home experience until we reopen - find us on Deliveroo (where no code is required) or Click & Collect through our website with code SAVE20

"Thank you for your understanding and we cannot wait to welcome you back very soon."
