A MAN stole his ex-lover's dentures and later tried to shove her out of a window.

Paul Smith, 50, initially turned on his ex-partner at her home in Partick, Glasgow, on December 5 2019.

The pair had been in an on-and-off relationship for the previous three years.

Prosecutor Sarah Latta told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “Smith went to Miss Martin’s home and knocked on the door.

"She opened it and he pushed past her before an argument occurred.

“He dragged her upstairs by her hair and went through her things taking money and food

"He then pulled her dentures from her mouth and ran off.”

Police later found him and discovered her teeth in his jacket.

On a later occasion on January 26, 2021, Miss Martin was asleep and was disturbed by a noise.

Smith went to her bedroom and begun to shout.

Miss Latta stated: “He shouted ‘I want everything you’ve got or I’ll throw you out the window’. “

“She refused and he held her out against the window.

"She was shouting for help. He pulled her back in and he told her ‘That’s it. I’m killing you. “

The terrified woman climbed out and clambered onto the roof to try and escape.

Smith followed and a witness saw them arguing on the roof with his ex-partner shouting for help.

Smith was eventually held by police leading to him admitting to assaulting her to her injury as well as engaging in a course of behaviour that was abusive to her.

Mark Allen, defending, told the court: “He accepts that prison is inevitable.”

Sheriff Martin Jones QC told him: “You have a record of domestic abuse. Custody is required.”

He was sentenced to 16 months in prison and was also made the subject to a non-harassment order for three years.
