KYLE Falconer declared his love for gutted Luke La Volpe this afternoon after stepping in to replace him at TRNSMT Festival.

The View frontman and solo artist was drafted in for the Bathgate crooner's King Tut's stage slot after he was forced to self-isolate on Friday.

"He got Covid. I hope he's alright. I love him man, love him," Falconer told the crowd.

La Volpe branded the indie rocker a "fitting replacement" as the pair wrote the song Terribly Beautiful together for Luke's EP of the same name.

Falconer kicked off his last-minute set with the Motown-tinged Stress Ball. "Have you heard that song? It's alright, isn't it?," the 34-year-old posed to the crowd.

The singer-songwriter, who last played the Glasgow Green event in 2018, is no stranger to the festival circuit – and even played the iconic T in the Park a record eight times.

The thundering Avalanche and Family Tree soon followed. “I’m putting bottles of whisky and vodka behind me,” he chanted, reflecting on his own addiction struggles.

"I feel like I just want to play Same Jeans, but I can't," he teased eager punters. Face for the Radio – taken from the Dundee outfit's debut record Hats Off to the Buskers – was up next, before belting out solo tune Kelly with earworm melodies aplenty.

"I might play an Ella Eyre song," said the star, looking to the main stage over his sunglasses. "What is she doing over there? It's kicking off."

Before performing Laura – a song dedicated to his fiancée – the Dryburgh lad gave his partner and little girl a mention as they watched on from the side of stage.

The revealing track featured on his latest album No Love Songs for Laura which was released earlier this year.

The crowd came alive once again for guitar-driven, rambunctious The View tune Witches – the final performance of the short, yet punchy set.
