Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars

WHEN an artist saunters on stage with a can of Tennent's lager in hand, you know you're in for a good show.

"What's f***ing happening?," East End singer Joesef laughed, pointing to his family and friends at the front of the few hundred-strong crowd for his debut TRNSMT appearance.
Glasgow Times:
The heavily jazz-inflected Does It Make You Feel Good? was first on the promising 24-year-old's setlist for the King Tut's stage gig.

The extremely groovy I Wonder Why – a collaboration with hip hop star Loyle Carner – continued the feel-good vibe, with the rising star taking a deep breath and flashing a smile of disbelief at the supportive audience.
Glasgow Times:
"Am fae the East End. Anybody fae the East End?," the Garthamlock lad asked punters, receiving a bunch of screams in return. "F***ing liars."

The singer showcased a bunch of effortlessly flawless runs during Don't Give In and Play Me Something Nice – the latter seeing the crooner blowing a kiss to his pals who were beaming with pride.
Glasgow Times:
Despite the confidence he oozes on stage, alongside his Chet Baker-esque vocals and lyrics reminiscent of the late Amy Winehouse, it's hard to believe the Glasgow boy only played his first gig in 2019.

Joesef hyped up both sides of the crowd – as if they really needed it – before absolutely nailing a cover of Sister Sledge's classic 1984 hit Thinking of You.
Glasgow Times:

"F***ing hell," he exclaimed, clearly in shock. There were silky smooth vocals aplenty in the swoon-worthy Kerosene. "In the blue of your eyes, I'm in disguise," he crooned.

The honest and impassioned Comedown followed. "I wish we always had each other, I wish it didn't go so bad," he lamented, demonstrating why he's so well-known for his 'sad boy' tunes.
Glasgow Times:

Lo-fi bop Limbo was warmly received by the crowd and The Sun Is Up Forever – a song the Glaswegian wrote for his "wee maw" – went down a storm.

"We've waited a year and half to get here. It's been a long road," the star confessed. "It's been a s***e year but this means a lot to me that you're here."

Joesef rounded off his phenomenal set with fan favourite Loverboy – a can of Tennents in hand, like the true East End boy he is.
