A DRUNK lout vandalised a car with a metal stick.

Terrence Walsh, 26, smashed the windows of a blue Volkswagen on May 31 last year, in Springboig, Glasgow.

He pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to abusive behaviour and recklessly damaging property belonging to another.

Ryan Rollins and two of his friends were in his back garden when they heard a loud banging noise.

Prosecutor Victoria Kwell stated: “The witnesses went to see what the cause of the banging was and saw Walsh hitting the car with a metal stick.

"They shouted at him to stop and he did and ran towards them.

“Mr. Rollins and his friends ran back to the garden and shut the gate, where Walsh began to hit it with the metal stick.

He stopped after a short while and returned to hitting the bonnet of the car.”

Police were contacted after Walsh left the scene and he was later arrested.

Walsh, of Cambuslang, had been previously drinking with his girlfriend and believed there was an incident to do with Mr. Rollins.

The estimated damage to the car was around £700.

Lawyer Graham Walker told the court: “He is very apprehensive about the matter.”

Sheriff Patricia Pryce told Walsh: “I am going to impose a fine and make you pay compensation.”

He was sentenced to a fine of £1,060 to cover the damage of the car.
