A GLASGOW based travel agency has bagged a prestigious award.
Barrhead Travel has been named the "Best Large Travel Agency" in Scotland for the 20th year in a row at the Agent Achievement Awards in London.
Hosted by Travel weekly, the awards celebrate excellence in the travel industry and are seen as most highly regarded.
Jacqueline Dobson, President of Barrhead Travel said: “Winning this award 20 years ago was an honour - to hold our level of excellence for 20 years is incredible, particularly after the year we have endured. The achievement is a true reflection of our team’s commitment to providing the best possible experience for our customers.”
She is expecting to see a boost in business as more destinations become accessible and people turn to traditional high street travel agents to book their trips.
Dobson said this year’s half-term holiday patterns were mirroring that of a usual summer season: “A lot of families, particularly in Scotland where schools are back by early August, missed out on their usual family holiday abroad. People are now taking advantage of more destinations being open for tourism as well as enjoying competitive prices. We’ve seen all-inclusive family holidays for October for less than £1300 offering incredible value to our customers.
“Pre-pandemic, the trend of using a travel agent was growing due to holidaymakers taking more complex trips and being concerned about guaranteeing financial protection. Now, with all the changes to travel, that concern is heightened, and people are naturally wanting reassurances – both in terms of advice and protecting their money – from local people they can trust.
“There are customers, particularly among millennials and Gen-Z demographics, who may have never considered using a travel agent before and are turning to their local travel agency for advice. Travel is more complicated than it was previously but using an expert who lives and breathes travel advice can make holidaying simple and stress-free. Our award win is testament to our quality in this service.”
