FILMING for a new BBC drama thriller is underway in Glasgow city centre.

The Control Room, which is being produced by Bafta award-winning writer Nick Leather, follows Gabe, who works as an emergency call handler for the Scottish Ambulance Service in Glasgow.

His world is turned upside down when he receives a desperate life-and-death call from a woman, who appears to know him.

Part of Rose Street in the city centre was closed off to traffic last night in order for filming to begin.

Meanwhile, several other streets have restrictions in place including no parking.

The new drama will star Iain De Caestecker, of Roadkill fame who is the son of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's director of public health, Linda de Caestecker.

He said: “The Control Room is one of the most exciting scripts I’ve ever read, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time so I’m thrilled to now be bringing it to life.

"I’ve always loved working with the BBC and am especially delighted to be filming alongside this fantastic cast and crew in my hometown of Glasgow.”
