A SOUTHSIDE all-you-can-eat restaurant is celebrating its half a million-pound refurb by inviting NHS workers to dine for free.

COSMO, in Silverburn Shopping Centre, will reopen on Monday after receiving a makeover designed by Robert Angell, who has previously created restaurants for The Savoy, Gordon Ramsay, and Marcus Waring.

To celebrate the new look, the much-loved restaurant is throwing open its doors early to NHS staff on Thursday, September 23, to thank them for their extraordinary efforts during the difficult months of the pandemic.

The gesture underlines COSMO’s commitment to the NHS – during lockdown staff kept busy in the kitchen preparing 50 free hot meals a day for doctors and nurses in the critical care departments at Leverndale Hospital.

Kan Koo, from the restaurant, said: “We have always offered a discount to NHS staff and we were proud to support our local hospital when staff were battling through extraordinary long shifts in exceptional situations.

“It seems only fitting that as we celebrate our new look and reopen our doors that we invite those keyworkers who went above and beyond the call of duty every day.

“The restaurant is looking absolutely stunning and we can’t wait for the people of Glasgow to return for our freshy-cooked global cuisine in our elegant new setting.”

COSMO opened its doors in Glasgow in 2014 and the recent refurbishment brings it in line with some of the global banqueting group’s sister restaurants.

The 8,800 sq-ft restaurant has had a brand-new lighting system and Italian marble counters, with new leather booth seating, wall murals and dark oak shelving which section off areas for privacy.

The East meets West setting reflects the dishes served at the restaurant; diners can choose from a mammoth 55m of global cuisine including Chinese, Italian, Indian, Brazilian and Malaysian which will be cooked in front of them at eight live cooking stations.

Mr Koo added: “We are incredibly proud of the new-look restaurant and now it is finished we can’t wait to show it off next week. The interior is much lighter and brighter and has a luxurious finish which will be the perfect venue for families, friends and groups.”
