A RAPIST said to have offered money for someone to assault an ex-lover has been jailed for 10 years.

William Jackson was today sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

The 37-year-old preyed on one former partner including attacking her while she was pregnant.

Prosecutors stated Jackson also attempted to incite others via messages on his social media account by "offering payment to any person" who assaulted the woman.

Another ex-girlfriend also suffered at his violent hands.

The former concierge was brought to justice after being convicted of 10 charges following a trial last month.

This included raping both women and the crime of incitement to assault one of them.

The offences occurred at a number of addresses in the city's East End between 2002 and 2020.

Judge Tom Hughes praised the victims for bravely testifying against Jackson, who had denied the accusations.

The judge said: "It is quite clear you have caused them considerable problems in their life.

"It must come as comfort that the jury believed them...and preferred their evidence."

Jackson will also be supervised for a further three years on his release.

Non-harassment orders banning him from contacting the women were further imposed.

Allan MacLeod, defending, told the court today: "The (pre sentencing) reports both conclude that he is at medium risk of sexual re-offending."

Jackson was also put on the sex offenders list.
