A RAPIST who also forced his victim to make him dinner has been locked up for 10 years.

William Park was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow having earlier been convicted of 11 charges.

The 56-year-old subjected the woman to sex attacks and physical violence during a harrowing ordeal mainly at his then home in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Prosecutors said this also included him repeatedly making her "prepare" meals which he then "refused to eat and spat on her".

Park also hurled a sandwich at her, twisted her finger and called her obscene names.

He was found guilty after a trial in Paisley of raping the woman, attempted rape, assault as well as abusive behaviour.

Park was further convicted of sexually assaulting another woman as well as making threatening and indecent remarks to a third.

The crimes occurred between August 2016 and May 2020.

Sentencing, Lord Armstrong told Park: "I accept you are a different person when you have not consumed alcohol.

"You continue to deny your guilt and that you take no responsibility for what you have done.

"The crime of rape is a grave crime which all women should be protected against.

"It is the responsibility of this court that it will deal with this conduct and not flinch from those who commit such crimes."

The rape is said to have happened in March 2020 while the victim was asleep and incapable of giving consent.

Louise Arrol, defending, said: "His background report is in one view limited as he maintains his innocence for the significant matters.

"In terms of his offending behaviour his reaction amounted to 'I would not have done that'."
