He said: "As the Glasgow Conservatives look to begin the selection process for the 2022 Local Elections, I have decided that I will not be standing for re-election for the Newlands/Auldburn ward.

"It has been an incredible honour to serve my local community and I will forever be grateful to those who gave me the chance to serve. I hope that I will leave a positive legacy having helped hundreds of people since my election and worked to improve our local community. I am also deeply honoured to have served as a Bailie representing Glasgow in a civic role.

"My decision not to stand again in Glasgow is due to a change in personal circumstances. My partner recently started working in an exciting role in Dumfries & Galloway and as such we are looking to move out of the city in the future to achieve a better work/life balance for both of us.

"I look forward to working with the new Scottish Conservative candidate when selected to ensure local residents continue to have a Councillor who puts local people first.

"I will continue to serve the Newlands/Auldburn ward until the 2022 elections in the same way I have done so for the last 4 years."
