PLANS have been lodged to transform a former carpet store into a restaurant in Glasgow's Southside.

The ground-floor premises at 58 Hillington Road South previously housed Cardonald Carpets.

An application put forward to Glasgow City Council seeks to change the use from retail to restaurant.

The business plans to operate from 7am to 12am Monday to Sunday.

A statement on the application reads: "This proposal represents a viable opportunity to bring a prominent and vacant site back into active use in the community.

The site is also in a beneficial position in that it is accessible by all modes of transport and there is car parking directly adjacent to the unit for any visitors who require it."

A proposed plan shows 12 tables with seating, a toilet, kitchen, service area and storage area.
