A POPULAR restaurant will be opening at a new location in Glasgow's East End. 

La Vita has been granted planning permission to open at a premise on 175 Baillieston Road.

The site is part of a Co-op superstore which was previously granted permission to subdivide the shop.

The new restaurant will employ 14 full-time staff members and eight part-time employees.

Glasgow Times:

Opening hours will be 11am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11am to 12am Friday and Saturday. 

Bosses will also create a takeaway area, which will employ three full-time and two part-time staff. It will have a linked door into the restaurant.

A bakery will also be part of the plans, to supply the restaurant. 

In a statement on the planning application, it reads: "The bakery proposal stems from a need to be greener by being in-house and having better quality control. The bakery will employ six persons on-site and one delivery driver."

Meanwhile, plans have also been approved for a function suite at the site. This will employ two full-time staff and eight part-time staff. 

It will have a main room with stage, holding kitchen, break out area, toilets and an external terrace on the first floor.

Opening hours will be from 12pm to 1am all week however, the external terrace will close at 10pm.

Glasgow City Council approved the plans, with certain conditions to be met.
