With only weeks to go before COP26 begins, extra security guards are still needed to provide protection reports the Sun.
The news comes after protest group Extinction Rebellion last week warned that they had no choice but to cause 'targeted disruptions' throughout the conference.
Lib Dem Liam McArthur told the Sun: “It’s baffling security staff are still being recruited.
“You would expect them to undergo thorough vetting.
“There is no room for slapdash recruitment when Scotland’s international reputation is on the line.”
Leader of the Opposition, councillor Malcolm Cunnning also voiced his concerns saying: “The UK Government has had years to prepare, so it’d be concerning if all security arrangements are not in place.”
Thousands of delegates, world leaders and media will descend on the city during the first two weeks of November for the climate summit, which is being held at the SEC.
COP26 chiefs said: “Safety and security is at the core of operational planning.”
