Actor Paul Donnelly, who is best known for his roles in the hit tv series Outlander and Scottish film Neds, has announced that he will soon be opening a boxing gym with a unique concept and charitable ethos.
BXNG will open in Milngavie on October 12 with “slick black interiors, state of the art equipment from Primal Strength and a full-size black and gold boxing ring.”
There’s much more to the gym than its ultra-modern set up though.
Paul has also launched his own charity In Your Corner that will fund and offer free classes and bespoke training programmes for victims of domestic abuse and youngsters suffering from anxiety or who have been victims of bullying
Paul said: “We are absolutely delighted to get BXNG Glasgow officially opened and launched.
“There is nothing quite like this in the local area or in the city, and feedback from locals so far has been incredible
“Out-with locals we will offer specific sessions and training programmes for vulnerable individuals.
“Sadly domestic abuse cases and reports of bullying are at an all-time high, and we want to help empower these victims and provide them with confidence to train and grow their self-esteem in a safe space.”
The new gym will work closely with local charities Glasgow Women’s Aid and Back Onside to identify the individuals who would benefit the most from a training session.
Angela Devine, chief executive of Glasgow Women’s Aid said: “We are very pleased to be working alongside Paul, In Your Corner and BXNG gym to provide safe spaces for our survivors to exercise, learn self-defence, and feel safe doing so.
“It’s a great initiative and will benefit so many.”
