A worker at an East End service station was left terrified in the early hours of this morning after a masked robber threatened them with a knife and demanded cigarettes and cash.

The shocking incident took place around 3.15am on Cumbernauld Road near Hoggenfield Loch leaving the male member of staff uninjured but ‘badly shaken’.

Police are now appealing for information regarding the suspect who is white, aged around 30-35 years old, between 5’ 5 and 5’8 inches in height, with a slim build.

He was wearing a dark grey Adidas hooded top, light grey jogging trousers, a black face mask with an orange logo on the left hand side, white Nike trainers and a dark coloured beanie hat with the North Face logo. 

He was also wearing gloves and carrying a black rucksack.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Hunter said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident.

“In particular, I would ask motorists with dash cam devices to check their footage is they may have captured images which could assist our investigation.”
