A MAN was taken to hospital after he was assaulted in Glasgow city centre last night. 

The 20-year-old was riding his bike on Sauchiehall Street near to the junction with Cambridge Street at around 8.20pm when he was approached by a man and assaulted.

Police Scotland confirmed the man sustained a serious leg injury which required hospital treatment.

Officers are appealing to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and can assist with ongoing enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

Detective Constable Paul Campbell, of Stewart Street Police Station, said: "I would urge anyone who may have seen what happened before and after this incident to get in touch.

"In particular I am keen to speak to anyone who may have taken footage or photographs of the incident on a mobile phone or who may have dash-cam or private CCTV footage from the area around that time.

"Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3612 of Friday, October 15, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
