It was the first time in the country where people could be denied entry to an event of more than 10,000 if they failed to show their certificate during a random spot check.

Barriers were set-up around the ground, including on the Celtic Way, where stewards greeted fans to check their certificate.

Celtic had earlier stated: "Celtic FC are obliged to follow Scottish Government legislation and would like to thank our supporters in advance for their patience, co-operation and understanding.

Glasgow Times:

"Random spot checks will be carried out by stewards on approach to Celtic Park, in line with this Scottish Government guidance and all supporters attending must be prepared to provide proof of vaccination or exemption.
