A NUMBER of raids were carried out in South Lanarkshire resulting in cops seizing £50,000 worth of drugs. 

Several homes were searched by officers between Tuesday, October 12 and Wednesday, October 20. Police say they visited properties in Bracken Brae, Lesmahagow; Low Water Road, Hamilton; Draffen Road, Netherburn and Welsh Drive, Blantyre.

The force revealed that the haul included £14,000 worth of cocaine and £36,000 worth of cannabis.

It was also revealed that the force's dog unit stopped a car in Larkhall's Machan Road and recovered £5,000 in cash. 

Four men - aged 26, 32, 39 and 58 - have been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences, with each expected to appear in court at a later date.

A 25-year-old woman will also be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged disorder offences.

Sergeant Greig Baxter said: "Tackling drugs crime is a top priority for our team and information from the local community is absolutely vital in helping us target those involved in the supply of controlled drugs.
