A THUG who stabbed a man in the back led to a teenager being charged after handing him the blood-soaked knife.

Sleiman Bubakar pounced on Andrew Miller in Glasgow city centre's Sauchiehall Street on June 26 this year.

The 20-year-old also punched the victim who bravely stood up to him.

Bubakar fled but was clocked on CCTV illustrating the attack to a 16-year-old boy before handing him the blade.

Officers caught up with the pair and both were arrested.

Bubakar pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Miller to his severe injury and having a knife without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

The 16-year-old admitted meantime having a lockback knife without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

Both of the first offenders will be sentenced next month pending background reports.

The court heard Bubakar began verbal dialogue with Mr Miller while on Sauchiehall Street around 11.20pm.

Bubakar then ran at Mr Miller from behind and punched him forcefully to the right side of his head.

Mr Miller attempted to strike a blow back but missed him.

Bubakar was heard saying: "I have a knife."

Prosecutor Laura Bradley said: "Bubakar was seen to kick Mr Miller to the back causing him to stumble into a wall and punch him to the back.

"Mr Miller punched Bubakar and all parties walked away in different directions."

Mr Miller was told by his friends that they had overheard Bubakar's knife claim.

He then realised he had blood running down his back.

Police were contacted and with the help off CCTV Bubakar was traced near to the River Clyde.

Miss Bradley said: "Bubakar was seen to make a stabbing motion to the back of the 16-year-old boy who had met him as if describing the incident to him.

 

"The CCTV showed the boy being present as Bubakar retrieved an unknown item from his waistband 17 minutes before he was stopped by the police."

Officers searched Bubakar and found no weapons but discovered the bloody knife on the boy's person.

Bubakar later denied being involved in the attack.

Mr Miller was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary meantime where his back wound was stitched up.
