A DOMESTIC abuser was snared after a young boy confessed to police that he witnessed the horrific attack.

Sean Ahern, 29, punched lover Gemma Nyguist at a flat in Glasgow's Parkhead on January 23 this year.

The victim was also thrown against a wall in full view of the 13-year-old witness who was in their care.

Ahern and Nyguist failed to tell officers what happened when police later attended.

But, the boy bravely spoke up leading Miss Nyguist to make a statement.

Ahern pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court assaulting Miss Nyguist and breaking bail.

The court heard the pair were in a relationship for four years.

Ahern became enraged after Miss Nyguist kicked him accidently while in bed around 6am.

The pair argued with each other which continued into the hallway.

Prosecutor Laura Bradley said: "Ahern punched Miss Nyguist on the head and body then grabbed her and threw her against the wall.

"The boy, who was in a bedroom, heard the disturbance and came to see Ahern assaulting Miss Nyguist."

The boy initially left the property before returning to see the police inside.

Miss Bradley said: "Officers spoke to Ahern and Miss Nyguist who both told them that nothing had happened.

"The boy told police what he had witnessed and at this point Miss Nyguist also gave a statement."

Ahern was arrested and later told officers: "I didn't lay a finger on her."

The court then heard Ahern attended the property on June 10 this year - breaching his bail conditions.

Ahern fled after noticing that Miss Nyguist was on the phone to the police.

He was snared after Ahern was heard shouting "You're a grass" while the call was taking place.

Ahern was later traced and arrested.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC.
