A FAMILY-RUN furniture store is celebrating 25 years in one of the city's "most historically significant buildings".

The Store Interiors, which was founded 34 years ago, moved to their current premises at 26 Munro Place in Anniesland in June 1996.

The building, originally built in the 1930s, belonged to the highly successful Birrell's Sweet Factory.

The building later became the headquarters of RS McColl's and was then taken over by Thomas Johnstone Ltd.

The Store Interiors still own some original utensils left behind by the confectionary company, including old-fashioned weighing scales.

Managing director Arun Pasi said: "It's a great feeling to be celebrating 25 years here at Munro place.

"The fact that so many successful businesses have grown thanks to this place is fantastic.

"This building is an important part of Glasgow's history, and it's a real privilege for us to be a part of that.

"It's a place that has been loved by many throughout the years, and I have every faith that it will continue to be for generations to come."

To celebrate their silver anniversary, The Store Interiors will have 25% off all home accessories in-store from October 25 to November 7.
