MORE than 27 grams of cocaine was found in a Springburn home after police received intelligence.

Cops turned up to the flat on Croftbank Street at around 7.30am on February 27 this year.

William Hamilton, 35, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court after officers found the drug within his property.

He pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the class A drug.

Prosecutor fiscal depute Victoria Keel said: “Officers attended in possession of the search warrant. Entry was gained by forcing open the door.

“No persons were present, and a search was conducted. Whilst within the flat, various items were recovered including polythene bags, scales, gloves and 27.6 grams of cocaine.

“These were discovered in a kitchen cupboard. The search was concluded.”

Several months later on August 3, Hamilton attended at Govan police office, and he was interviewed.

The court heard that he replied ‘no comment’ to all questions and was cautioned and charged.

Hamilton’s lawyer said: “He was a user of the drug at the time as was the co-accused, his girlfriend.

“He purchased the drug really, for himself, rather than anybody else but bought more than he needed. It was accepted as social supply and that has always been his position. It’s a positive report. It’s not something he’s looking to be involved with again.”

Hamilton was ordered to carry out 144 hours of unpaid work.

Sheriff Diana McConnell told him: “You were having a fairly difficult time in terms of your personal life at the time.

“It’s clear you have a good job. You work full time, and the social worker doesn’t think you require supervision. But social supply is still a serious charge.”
