A DRUNK entered a stranger’s garden and made several threats towards him after attending a football match.

In the early hours of January 13 this year, the witness was within his home at Clydeford Road in Cambuslang, when he heard his dogs barking at the front door.

When the man went to his door, he spotted Mark Bexley standing in his garden.

The 24-year-old appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats.

The prosecutor said: “The accused appeared to be under the influence. He became aggressive stating ‘don’t f*****g tell me what to dae. I’ll f*****g go when I want to’.

He continued with ‘I know where you live, I know people. One phone call and they’ll be back to see you’.”

Bexley left the garden and made his way into another street and police were contacted. A search of the area was carried out and Bexley was traced. He was cautioned and charged.

His defence solicitor told the court: “He recognises he should not be doing any of that. He was at a football game and got off the train and shouldn’t have entered the garden.

“He was placed on a community payback order earlier this year. He has done extremely well and completed the hours very quickly. He has engaged well with supervision. He is now in employment and working full time. Everything is looking far more positive now than at the time of the offence.”

Sheriff Shona Gilroy told Bexley: “It’s really good to see that you have made progress. It’s a great thing but what you done to the victim was really unpleasant.

“You can pay some compensation to repay the upset you caused him.”

Bexley, of Shettleston, was ordered to pay £200 to the victim.
