IT'S the biggest event to come to Glasgow many of you will never have heard of. COP26, which kicks off on Hallowe'en, will see political leaders and thousands of delegates from across the globe descend on the city for crunch climate change talks.

For two weeks the eyes of the world will be on our streets as Joe Biden, Boris Johnson, and co. try to agree an 'ambitious' new deal to limit the world's greenhouse gas emissions.

Having been delayed last year due to Covid restrictions, the event will be one of the first major summits to be held in-person since the outbreak of the pandemic but concern has been raised by some experts it could lead to a spike in cases.

Others have raised fears of the impact it will have on the city as roads and culture hubs are shut as part of enhanced security measures around the SEC.

Still, COP will be a major chance to put Glasgow in the spotlight given the presence of some of the most famous faces in the world. But who is coming and who's not? Here's the ones to watch so far.

President Joe Biden of America

Determined to host the event in person, Mr Johnson has said COP26 must be a turning point for humanity.

“It is time for us to listen to the warnings of the scientists – and look at Covid, if you want an example of gloomy scientists being proved right – and to understand who we are and what we are doing," he told United Nations leaders last month.

Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister

"My hope, and I think it is a hope that the world must aspire to live up to, is that the discussions there next month, will help us usher in a net-zero revolution around the world," Scotland's First Minister said earlier this year.

Her Majesty the Queen, United Kingdom

While some doubt has been cast on Her Majesty's attendance following a recent stay in hospital, as things stand the Queen will lead a cohort of royals at COP26.

And it seems she's as keen as anyone for change. "It's really irritating when they talk, but they don't do," she was caught on camera as saying about climate summits.
