GLASGOW'S travel network is said to be facing a "unique set of challenges" as major roads in the city are set to close ahead of the COP26 climate conference.

The Clydeside Expressway and sections of the M8 will shut to traffic today from 9pm with alternative routes issued by Glasgow City Council.

Drivers could see diversions taking them as far away as Anniesland and are urged to plan travel to, in, and around Glasgow in advance.

Some footpaths and cycleways around the Scottish Exhibition Centre (SEC) are also subject to closures as the city prepares to welcome world leaders, delegates, and climate activists for the UN climate summit.

However, pedestrian access will be maintained on Finnieston Street, Lancefield Quay, and Clyde Arc at all times as well as routes for emergency services.
