CONCERNS have been raised over fireworks being let off in the early hours of the morning in the Southside of Glasgow.

Officers are aware of a number of reports of the explosive devices being set off in and around the Pollokshields area early on Friday and Saturday. 

Police are appealing for information and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a car dropping off a box of fireworks on Allison Street near to Craigie Street.

Inspector Cennydd Smith said these acts are "completely unacceptable" and additional patrols in the area will continue.

He said: "These acts are being carried out by a small group of individuals whose sole intent is to cause disruption in the local community and this is completely unacceptable.

"We will continue to have additional patrols in the area in an attempt to disrupt this behaviour and catch those responsible.

"We would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have seen a car dropping off a box of fireworks on Allison Street near to Craigie Street.

"I would urge anyone in the area to check private CCTV footage or if anyone has any information that could assist with our enquiries then please contact police via 101, quoting incident number 0395 of October 23. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."
