THEY say people make Glasgow and tonight one cheeky chappy has proved this 'reely' is the case. 

With non-stop rain battering the city and heavy flooding shutting off major roads, we spotted a Glaswegian making the most of the weather... by enjoying a spot of fishing.

The hilarious local was captured by our photographer on Hamilton Drive, in the West End, as he tried his luck at reeling in the catch of the day. 

But we're sad to report that our mystery fisherman left empty handed. 

One eyewitness said: "I'm sorry to say he didn't catch anything!"

As we have previously told, much of Glasgow has been hit by heavy rain this afternoon, which has closed a number of major roads.

It also saw the first night of GlasGlow, one of the major events in the Halloween calendar, cancelled at the last-minute with the entrance to the Botanic Gardens blocked by flooding.
