A DAD who tried to pass his prison inmate son a package of drugs avoided jail this week.
James Fury, 51, was clocked handing his son James junior, 28, five Buprenorphine tablets at Glasgow’s Barlinnie Prison on April 15, 2019.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Fury attended the prison on a pre-arranged visit around 5.35pm.
CCTV operators at the prison control room alerted staff to the Furys.
Prosecutor Jennifer Sillars said: “They stated that they observed a package to be passed from Fury to his son who was seen to receive a package.
“The package was thereafter seized and provided to the police.
“It was found to contain five white tablets which were later tested to be Buprenorphine - a Class C drug.”
Miss Sillars stated the total value of the tablets were £10 but in prison it could reach three to five times that value.
Fury pleaded guilty to supplying Buprenorphine.
Sheriff Allan Findlay tagged Fury, of the city’s Sandyhills, for 45 weeks keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.
