A TOPLESS teenager shouted sectarian abuse at police near Ibrox on the morning of an Old Firm match.

Rangers fan Stuart Ramsay was spotted by officers on Craigton Road walked down the street with his arms outstretched while singing and swearing.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the incident happened on May 12, 2019, around 11.30am when the 19-year-old was drunk ahead of an Old Firm match.

He was seen by two police officers in a marked police vehicle conducting an anti-disorder mobile patrol due to the football match taking place between Rangers and Celtic.

The depute fiscal told the court: "Police observed the accused walking along Craigton Road with his arms abreast, wearing no top whilst singing and shouting and swearing.

"The accused was approached by police witnesses regarding his conduct and asked to desist but he failed to do so."

Ramsey then ran from police shouting “You dirty Orange b*******”.

A few minutes later he returned to the scene and continued to shout and swear singing a song with the lyrics “He’s a b******, an Orange b******”.

Sheriff Jonathan Guy said: "He is fortunate the matter was deferred for good behaviour."

Ramsay's defence lawyer said: "His state of inebriation was such that his sectarian statements were inconsistent with his own allegiance."

The sheriff added: "He may have been expecting to be admonished but I am more minded, given the nature of the offence, and the context of what can happen with this kind of behaviour.

"This behaviour on the day in question is obviously of great concern within Glasgow and can quickly and easily escalate."

Ramsay was fined £100.
