A MAN will stand trial next year accused of failing to disclose two weapons prior to a body search.

Ewan Gourlay allegedly had a nail file and a wrist band with a concealed blade in his clothing in Glasgow's Knightswood on February 25, 2020.

Prosecutors state the 53-year-old possessed the weapons in a public place without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority on Anniesland Road.

It is claimed that Gourlay then culpably and recklessly advised two officers that he was not in possession of any sharp weapon which might cause them injury while carrying out a search of his clothing.

The charge states this was in fact when Gourlay was in possession of a sharply pointed nail file and wrist band with a concealed blade.

The weapons are said to have been liable to cause the officers an injury.

Gourlay, also of Knightswood, faces a final charge of failing to appear at a court date on April 26 this year.

Gourlay had no representation at a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court due to ongoing industrial action by defence lawyers.

Prosecutor Sarah Latta told the hearing that the Crown is "prepared for trial.'

She added: "The Crown indicates the trial will last a day."

Sheriff John McCormick replied: "That's ambitious, I will agree to two days."

A trial was fixed for August 2 next year.
