As the COP26 international climate talks continue in Glasgow, road closures continue to disrupt not only those in the city but travel is impacted across the whole of Central Scotland.

The unique event sees Glasgow welcoming around 140 world leaders as well as some 25,000 delegates from across the world and climate activists.

Protests and demonstrations as well as major road closures and restrictions have caused chaos for those travelling either to or around Glasgow.

Major travel routes such as the Clyde expressway and sections of the M8 have been closed throughout the event, with the nearby Minerva Street - West Greenhill Place, which is located right next to the Exhibition centre train station, also closed.

People are urged to plan their journeys in advance and drivers in particular are being asked to look at travelling outside peak times, consider if the journey is necessary at that time or at all and leaving the car, opting to travel in a different way to reduce congestion.

Public transport in Glasgow throughout the event has been busier than normal.

The UN Climate Change Conference will end on Friday, November 12, however despite the ending of the talks, some road closures will remain in the days following.

Here is when the all of the COP26 road closures will end

  • Congress Road: Road closed until 6am on Wednesday November 17
  • Congress Way, Finnieston Quay, Tunnel Street, Stobcross Road (section Parallel to A814) and Castlebank Street: Full road closures lasting until 6am on Sunday November 21.
