GOVAN celebrated opening a new Aldi store today with help from one of their partnered Team GB Olympian members.

The Olympic Judo hero, Gemma Gibbons, cut the shiny red ribbon at 8am allowing the enthusiastic Aldi customers entry into their anticipate store, with the first 30 customers getting a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables.

The supermarket also gave an initiative to Glasgow's Craigton Primary School pupils, tasking them to design a poster for their 'Get Set to Eat Fresh' campaign;  So, tomorrow, Gemma will give an inspirational virtual assembly to the pupils and will reveal the winner of Aldi's £20 voucher.

Gemma said: “I’ve had a fantastic time opening the new Aldi this morning. It was an honour to officially open the store and welcome customers inside for the first time.

“I am looking forward to speaking with the children at Craigton Primary School about the importance of eating healthily and how it can be fun to plan and prepare meals as a family.  Hopefully, I will inspire the pupils to keep active and try different sports.”
