Derek McInnes has claimed Jota handled the ball in the run-up to Celtic’s winning goal against St Johnstone tonight.

The former Aberdeen boss felt the Portuguese winger was guilty of bringing the ball down with his hand before his cross found its way to James Forrest who slotted home with a match-winning finish on the 73rd minute.

And McInnes insists if VAR was available in Scotland the referee Michael Gillen would have been forced to rule it out.

McInnes said: "I think it has to be said, if that’s in England with VAR that goal doesn’t stand.

"It is fine margins. “We (the pundits) didn’t think it was a handball at the time, we were just congratulating the fine finish from James Forrest and Celtic for capitalising on the mistake, but it is clearly a hand ball.

"Until we have VAR up here goals like that will stand."
