Bingo halls in Glasgow are providing Christmas hampers to help those in need have a happy Christmas.

A nationwide campaign involving all 71 Mecca Bingo clubs is aiming to provide 4000 hampers to struggling people and families across the country.

Clubs in Drumchapel, the Forge and the Quay in Glasgow are getting involved in the appeal, titled Everyone Deserves a Christmas.

Mecca Bingo Drumchapel is raising money for Drumchapel Food Bank, one of the charities at the heart of its community.

It is run by KCEDG and founded in partnership with Drumchapel L.I.F.E working to support people facing food poverty.

At the Forge they are fundraising for Glasgow North East Foodbank and the Quay is raising money for Glasgow SW Foodbank.

These charities provide emergency food for people in crisis and are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust.

A spokesperson for all Glasgow locations, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing back Mecca’s Everyone Deserves a Christmas appeal for a second year and to be helping those who need it the most within our community.

"Christmas should be magical and we are determined to make it as special as can be for as many as possible.

Last year, the brand partnered with 52 charities to raise £185,000 in cash and hamper donations, providing 3,800 hampers across the UK.

The spokesperson added: "We just couldn’t do this without the incredible support of our customers and local supporters – we know this year that people will exceed all expectations with their generosity.”

Mecca are calling on customers as well as local residents and businesses to help with donations.

You can donate non perishable food and drink, unopened toiletries and money to your local bingo club or online.

All donations will contribute to making the Christmas hampers, which will be distributed by the local charity to those most in need.

Charity bingo games will be hosted in all Mecca venues on November 27, with a linked game sponsored by the Bingo Association and a prize fund of £2000.

From now on until Wednesday December 10, customers can also get involved by playing online at with all charity game proceeds going to Mecca’s chosen charity, Carers Trust.
